Description
37 Monnow Street is a two-storey building with a gable end facing the street, likely constructed from brick and featuring rendered and painted front walls. The structure has stone rubble walls and a Welsh slate roof. The ground floor includes a glass and aluminium shopfront with a door on the left side, while the first floor has a plain two-over-two pane sash window, with a parapet above. The gable tip is visible from the street, and the positioning of the downpipe hoppers indicates the slope of the gable. A tall rendered stack is located to the right.
The rear elevation has undergone significant alterations and extensions, including a later door and window above. Despite these changes, it still reflects the 17th-century form of a house with its gable end facing the street. The rear has been very altered and features a projecting 20th-century steel stairway. Inside, the ground floor has been entirely opened out and extended, while the upper floor displays roughly chamfered cross-beams with rudimentary stops and a principal rafter roof.
