Description

Nos. 40-46 (even) Monnow Street Faced in stucco and painted, with a C20 grey tile roof replacing former stone slabs. Double depth range parallel with the street. Two storeys and attic, six windows in all on the first floor, 6 over 6 pane sashes with keystones. Rusticated quoins and band above first floor windows. Ground floor late C20 shops with central entrance. Date plaque at centre of first floor reads 'THE 1724'. Plain roof with three hipped dormers with 6 + 6 panes. The rear elevation is rendered and painted with modern features. The interior of the ground floor has been entirely opened out into one shop. The upper floors were not available at resurvey (July 2004), but were said to retain no features of interest.
