Description
46 Monnow Street is a two-storey building with an attic, part of a range that includes Nos. 40-46 on Monnow Street. The exterior is faced in stucco and painted, featuring a 20th-century grey tile roof that has replaced the original stone slabs. The building has a double depth layout parallel to the street and displays six first-floor windows, which are 6 over 6 pane sashes with keystones. It has rusticated quoins and a band above the first-floor windows. The ground floor consists of late 20th-century shops with a central entrance. A date plaque in the center of the first floor indicates the year '1724'. The plain roof is complemented by three hipped dormers, each with 6 over 6 panes. The rear elevation is rendered and painted, incorporating modern features. The interior of the ground floor has been fully opened up into a single shop. The upper floors were not accessible during the last survey in July 2004, but it was noted that they lacked any features of interest.
