Description
74 and 76 Monnow Street are three-storey buildings with attics, featuring a rendered and painted front, likely over brick, and a tiled roof adorned with decorative ridge tiles. The layout follows a double depth central entry plan. On the ground floor, there are two shopfronts that are uniformly designed, flanking a central door. The shopfronts have plate glass display windows that project slightly forward and include a three-pane overlight, with the door on the left accompanied by rectangular lights above. A continuous fascia runs above the shopfronts.
The first floor features two large margin-glazed sash windows with voussoir heads spanning the entire width. There is a cill band at the second floor, which has four small openings from the early 18th century, also with voussoir heads, fitted with later 4 over 4 pane sashes. The steeply pitched roof includes two gabled dormers, each with 3 + 3 pane casements, and a brick stack is located on the right ridge. The rear elevation has not been seen. The interior has not been observed during the resurvey.
