Description
76 Monnow Street is a three-storey building with attics, featuring a rendered and painted front, likely over brick, and a tiled roof adorned with decorative ridge tiles. The layout follows a double depth central entry plan. On the ground floor, there are two shopfronts that are uniformly designed, flanking a central door. The shopfronts have plate glass display windows that are slightly set forward, accompanied by a 3-pane overlight. The door on the left has rectangular lights above it, and there is a continuous fascia.
The first floor features two large margin glazed sash windows with voussoir heads. Above this, a cill band marks the second floor, which has four small openings from the early 18th century, also with voussoir heads, and later 4 over 4 pane sashes. The steeply pitched roof is highlighted by two gabled dormers that contain 3 + 3 pane casements, and there is a brick stack on the right ridge. The rear elevation has not been seen. The interior has not been observed during the resurvey.
