Description
62 and 64 Monnow Street is a building with roughcast render that imitates ashlar, topped with a natural slate roof. It has a double depth plan with a central entry and stands three storeys tall with three windows. The ground floor features a central plank door leading to the house entry, flanked by shopfronts on either side. The shopfront to the left retains its original frame and dentil cornice, although the window and door are from the late 20th century. The shopfront to the right is entirely from the late 20th century. On the first floor, there are two 6 over 6 pane sash windows to the right (No. 64), while the left side has a plastic replacement window (No. 62). The upper floor has 3 over 6 pane sashes to the right and a plastic 6 over 6 pane window to the left. All windows have stone cills. The roof has a low pitch with stacks at either gable. The rear elevation was not seen. The building features a partly early 19th century shopfront with late 20th century alterations. The interior was not seen during the resurvey.
