Description
96-100 Monnow Street is a terrace of three properties built with rendered and painted brick, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has a double depth plan and stands three storeys high with attics, featuring three windows, one for each property. The shopfronts for Nos. 96 and 98 are plain 20th century designs with 2-pane windows and a deep fascia. No. 100, located on the right, has a hooded doorway with a six-panel door that includes four glazed panels and an overlight. All windows are 2 over 2 pane sashes with keyed heads, with the second-floor windows being smaller. The building has a cogged eaves cornice and a half-hipped roof over No. 96. There are two flat-topped dormers for Nos. 98 and 100, each with 2 over 2 pane sashes, and a ridge stack to the right of each property. The rear elevation is also rendered and retains some 6 over 6 pane sashes, with a rear wing attached to No. 100. The interior was not seen during the resurvey.
