Description
Nos. 53 and 55 Monnow Street Rendered brick front with Welsh slate roof and slated west gable, red brick stack. Double depth plan. Three storeys, two windows to each with those of No. 53 set wider apart. The window distribution is different for the two houses because of the throughway to the right which gives No. 53 additional width. The ground floor has a late C20 C19 style shopfront to No. 53 with entry to the left and access to the rear premisies on the right; panelled pilasters and 3-light display windows. No. 5 has a plain mid C20 shopfront. Sash windows above, all 6 over 6 pane with stone cills. Timber eaves on brackets, low pitch roof with central stack. Rear elevation not seen.
