Description
Nos. 27 and 29 Monnow Street are two-storey buildings with an attic, likely built over timber framing and completely rendered and painted. They feature a plain tile roof and a red brick chimney stack. The front has a late 20th-century shopfront with a wide continuous fascia, flanked by single-pane display windows on either side of a central door. The door to No. 29 on the left is a modern 'Carolina' style. On the first floor, No. 29 has two 2 over 2 pane sash windows, while No. 27 has two 6 over 6 pane sash windows. Each building has a flat-topped half-dormer with tripartite steel casements. The roof is steeply pitched, with a rebuilt stack on the right gable. The rear elevation includes a large single-storey extension, with all but one of the 6-pane sashes being 20th-century replacements. No. 27 serves as a ground floor shop that was fully opened up in the late 20th century, incorporating the large rear extension.
