Description

25 Monnow Street is a three-storey building, likely dating to the 18th century and originally constructed with a double-depth plan and a rear wing. The exterior is rendered and painted, probably over brickwork, and topped with a Welsh slate roof. The upper floors have four windows each, framed by rusticated pilasters, bands, and a moulded cornice. The first and second floor windows are 2-over-1 pane sash windows, with their lower sills concealed by the modern shop fascia. The window heads are bracketed, and are likely additions from around 1900 when the sash windows were altered. A coped parapet runs along the ridge of the roof, parallel to the street, with a stack on each gable. The ground floor has been entirely reconstructed as a shop, while the upper floors have not been seen. The rear elevation is also not visible.
