Description
Nos. 20 and 22 Monnow Street are two adjoining houses, likely built in the 18th century, featuring roughcast render, probably over brick, and topped with a tiled roof. They have a double depth plan and are single bay houses with the entrance located to the right. The buildings rise four storeys high, each with one window and a shared bay in the centre.
On the ground floor, there are two shopfronts beneath a shared fascia, with canted display windows and entrances positioned to the right. The first floor showcases a canted oriel window on either side, each with a 2 over 2 pane sash flanked by 1 over 1 sashes, while a plain 2 over 2 pane sash is located in the centre. The upper floors feature 2 over 2 pane sashes on either side of a blind recess, with the top floor windows being smaller in size. The roof is plain and includes a tall rendered stack on the left side, adjacent to the gable of No. 18. The rear elevation has not been observed. The interior was not seen during the resurvey.
