Description
71 and 73 Bootham are two houses, currently a house and a shop, built in the early 19th century with some alterations from the early 20th century. The buildings are constructed of brick and topped with a plain tile roof.
The exterior features three storeys and two bays. The windows are glazing bar sashes, with the first-floor windows and the right-hand window on the ground floor of No. 71 being bowed. The ground floor of No. 73 has an early 20th-century timber shopfront that includes a fascia and cornice. The doorway to No. 71, located to the left of its ground-floor window, has a doorcase with reeded pilasters and a semicircular overlight, while the door itself has six raised and fielded panels. A timber gutter is supported by paired rectangular brackets, and there is a lead rainwater hopper and downpipe on the right side. The building features a central ridge chimney and a shared chimney on the right. The interior has not been inspected.
