Description
Nos. 9 and 11 Church Street are two buildings constructed together, featuring painted brick with quoins and a modillion cornice. The roof is not visible from the street. No. 9 has a wider frontage than No. 11. The buildings have a double depth plan and rise three storeys high, with five window bays above the shopfronts; the centre window on the first floor is blocked. The windows are 6 over 6 pane sashes with keystones, and there is a band at the second floor. The shopfronts are from the 19th century and likely early 20th century. Two gabled dormers can be seen on the roof.
The shopfront for No. 9, probably dating from the early 20th century, has an entry on the left. It features a plain stallriser and fascia, with two large plate glass windows separated by a slim astragal. There is a blind window above the doorway in the centre. The rear elevation is not visible.
The interior details were not available during the resurvey, except for the shop premises.
