Description
Nos. 9 and 11 Church Street are two buildings constructed together, featuring painted brick with quoins and a modillion cornice. The roof is not visible from the street. The buildings have a double depth plan, are three storeys high, and have five window bays above the shopfronts, although the centre window on the first floor is blocked. The windows are 6 over 6 pane sashes with keystones, and there is a band at the second floor. The shopfronts date from the 19th century and likely the early 20th century. The late 19th century shopfront includes a central entrance, a low stall-riser, 2-pane windows with a narrow mullion, and a recessed part-glazed door. It features a wide fascia with heavy moulded brackets at either end. Two gabled dormers are visible, while the rear elevation is not seen. The interior was not available for review during the resurvey, except for the shop premises.
