Description
Nos 9A and 9B on Market Place are late 19th-century buildings that stand three storeys tall, plus an attic. They are constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and feature a slate roof adorned with cresting. The building includes one dormer with a triangular head and bargeboards, a cornice band, and a parapet that displays a shield dated 1892. The corners are accentuated with banded quoins, and there is a stringcourse present. The façade has three windows that are framed with ashlar surrounds, complete with keystones and sills supported on brackets. The windows are sash style, featuring vertical glazing bars. The ground floor has a moulded and dentilled fascia, although it now has modern shop-fronts. This building is part of a significant group that includes the listed buildings on the east side, the Market Cross, Nos 2 to 12 (even) High Street, Abbey Gatehouse, Town Hall, and St Dunstan's House on Magdalene Street.
