Description

The Market Cross, built in 1846 by Benjamin Ferrey, is a Grade II listed structure located in Market Place. It features a Perpendicular style design and is constructed from ashlar stone. The cross is composed of three stages, with an octagonal base that supports a spirelet adorned with openwork tracery, tabernacles, and finials. At the top, there is a wrought-iron weathervane. The Market Cross is part of a significant group that includes Nos 1 and 2 Market Place, Nos 6 to 9 Market Place, Nos 2 to 10 High Street (South side), and the Crown Hotel to No 11 High Street (North side).
