Description

This is a mid-to-late 19th-century building located on a prominent corner site in the Market Place, with a curved front leading into Benedict Street. It is a three-storey structure featuring a hipped pantile roof with a single dormer window surviving in the eastern part. The building is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings, a plain cornice supported by curved brackets, and a stringcourse. There are six windows in total, all with raised surrounds and segmental tops over the first-floor windows. The windows are sash windows without glazing bars. A dentil cornice is above the ground-floor level. The corner shop front, which extends into Benedict Street, is original and retains its original glazing. The building is described as a unique type in Glastonbury.
