Description
The Crown Hotel is a building likely dating from the early 19th century, featuring a front that may belong to an older structure. It stands three storeys tall and has a modern roughcast finish, with a slate roof and a parapet. The façade is divided by pilasters and includes a stringcourse. On either side of the central entrance are splayed bays, with the right bay projecting forward, both fitted with modern sash windows that lack glazing bars. The entrance features an arch made of moulded wood, complete with a keystone and carved spandrels. The doors are deeply recessed and are double half-glazed. Above the entrance is a canopy supported by wrought-iron brackets, and there is a bracket holding a hotel sign. The Crown Hotel is part of an important group of listed buildings that includes all properties from the Crown Hotel to No. 11 on the north side, as well as Nos. 2 to 10 and the Market Cross, along with Nos. 6 to 9 in the Market Place.
