Description
Nos 4 and 4A on High Street is a house that likely dates from the early 19th century. It is three storeys tall with an ashlar front, featuring a moulded cornice and a parapet. Plain pilasters are positioned on either side of the front. The building has three sash windows with projecting voussoirs and thin glazing bars. There is a mid-19th century double-fronted shop with panelled Tuscan pilasters on the left side, along with a doorway that includes a rectangular fanlight. To the right, there is a modern shop window. This building is part of a significant group of listed buildings that includes Nos 2 to 10 and No 12 on the south side, as well as the Crown Hotel to No 11 on the north side, and the Market Cross along with Nos 6 to 9 in the Market Place.
