Description

HIGH STREET 1. 1133 (South Side) No 6 ST 4938 7/50 II GV 2. C18 front, altered later. 3 storeys. Painted brick with moulded parapet coping swept up to join No 8. Plain band over 3rd storey. Chamfered quoins. 2 windows, C19 sashes in raised surrounds with curved pediments and keystones over. Projecting sills on curved brackets. 3-light window on 2nd floor to right. Small bay of 3 lights on 1st floor to right. sashes with some glazing bars. C19 shop-front with moulded cornice supported by 3 floriated volutes. Modern shop-front. 6-panel door to left. All the listed buildings from Nos 2 to 10 with No 12 (South side), and from Crown Hotel to No 11(North side), and the Market Cross and Nos 6 to 9 (consec) Market Place form an extremely important group.
