Description
10 High Street is a 3-storey building from the Victorian era, constructed of painted brick. It features rusticated quoins on the left side and has three windows. The first-floor windows are adorned with stepped and chamfered voussoirs and segmental heads. The window openings contain paired or single sashes set in moulded surrounds, with some retaining glazing bars. The left side has a Victorian shop front, which is double-fronted and topped with a moulded and fretted cornice. Each side of the shop front has 3-light shop windows with Gothic-style tops and floriated spandrels. Slender colonettes with floriated capitals support the structure. In the center, there are paired half-glazed doors with decorative scrollwork above. A wrought-iron scrolled cresting crowns the shop front. To the right, there is a carriage entry featuring a segmental arch with a rusticated surround. This building is part of an important group of listed buildings that includes Nos 2 to 10 on the south side and the Crown Hotel to No 11 on the north side, as well as the Market Cross and Nos 6 to 9 in the Market Place.
