Pair of houses in row, with shop. Early C19. Painted brickwork or rendered, slate roof. 2 storeys and attic, each 1 window; to the left is a low 2-storey section in painted brick with a 4-pane sash in moulded box, above a C20 shop front in a moulded architrave. A small plinth, carried across the full width of the property, and a small dentilled eaves. The right half, built with No.9 (qv) as a pair, has a mansard roof with a 2-light small-pane casement raking dormer, and part of a second dormer, mainly in No.9, above a bold canted oriel with 8:12:8-pane sash, above a wide plate-glass shop front, slightly set forward. To the right in deep reveals and with moulded stone architrave is a C20 glazed door, on one step. The whole ground floor to No.8 has a flat hood to a moulded edge; over the doorway are 2 console brackets. The eaves has a moulded entablature, carried round the oriel, and capped by a cast-iron ogee gutter. The stack is at the gable end to No.8. INTERIOR: not inspected.
