Description
57 and 58 St Mary Street is a pair of houses with shops, dating from the early 19th century. They feature painted brickwork and slate roofs, standing three storeys tall. Each house has two 12-pane sash windows on the second floor, set in reveals with stone sills, above a single bow oriel window with eight panes on the top and bottom and twelve panes in the middle, which is adorned with a dentil cornice. The 19th-century shop front serves both properties, showcasing a deep fascia and curved quadrant glass that returns to deep-set glazed doors. The buildings have a simple coped parapet and central and end chimney stacks. The interior has a single-depth plan, mainly featuring late 19th-century fittings, but retains an original winder stair in No. 58 that connects the first and second floors.
