Description
No. 55 on St Mary Street is a narrow frontage house that includes a shop, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The front features painted brickwork, while the lower part of the left party wall is made of Portland stone ashlar. The building has a slate double roof with a central valley and stands three storeys tall with one window. The upper floor has a 12-pane sash window in a flush box, and below it is an 8:12:8-pane bow oriel window topped with a dentil cornice. The shop front is from the 20th century, and there is a plain coped parapet at the top. The left side of the building has ashlar up to the second floor, with rendering above, and features a central 6-pane light at the second floor. Rendered gable stacks are located to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
