Description

This is an early 19th-century house in a row, originally with a shop on the ground floor. It is constructed of painted brickwork with a slate roof. The property is three storeys high with an attic, and features a single window on the front elevation. Above a two-storey oriel bow window, there is a large 20th-century dormer. The oriel bow window has a sash arrangement of 6 panes over 9 panes over 6, while the main windows on the lower floors have an 8-pane over 12-pane over 8 sash configuration. The ground floor has a late 20th-century shop front with large single panes of glass returning to a pair of glazed doors, illuminated by a shallow transom light and a simple fascia. A plat band sits above the first-floor windows, though it is not continuous across the front. A simple cornice with paired brick dentils, a blocking course, and a parapet are present, with a brick stack located to the right. The interior has not been inspected. The building is wider and slightly grander than the adjacent properties at numbers 2 and 3, St Alban’s Street.
