Description
Ty-mawr is a large house, likely dating to the 18th century, though with later alterations. The building is composed of two distinct sections. The left-hand section is roughcast over stone with a roof hidden from the street. It is two storeys high with two windows, and a cill band runs along the front. The windows to the main rooms on the right project forward in a full-height bay. A recessed doorway is located to the right, featuring plain pilasters, a six-panel door, and an unusual, later fanlight positioned above the architrave. The windows are 6 over 6 pane sashes. The elevation is finished with a plain frieze, cornice, and parapet, and includes a tall red brick stack on the right wall. Wrought iron railings with arrow heads, and iron gates are present.
The right-hand section is rendered and painted, featuring quoined surrounds to the windows and a Welsh slate roof. This section is three storeys high with three windows, and lacks a front doorway. The elevation exhibits five different window sizes. The ground floor has wider 2 over 2 pane sashes flanking a narrow 1 over 1 window. The first floor features a wider 1 over 1 window flanked by smaller and narrower 1 over 1s. The second floor has three equal 1 over 1 windows. The elevation is topped with projecting eaves and a plain pitched roof, concluding with a tall red brick stack on the right gable. The right return displays a rear wing of only two storeys. The rear elevation was not visible during inspection. The interior was not inspected during a recent survey.
