Description
Daglingworth House is a large house dating to the late 18th century, with extensions added in the 19th century to the rear. The front facade is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with the rest of the building in coursed rubble. The roof is covered with Welsh slate to the front and some stone slate to the rear, with ashlar stacks. The main body of the house is rectangular, with the later 19th-century extensions to the rear being a single storey. The house has a symmetrical, three-windowed facade featuring tripartite sash windows in the outer bays, a 12-pane sash window over the front door, and a 9-pane sash window above the door. A band runs between each floor. The central front door is six-panelled, possibly original, with the upper four panels glazed, set within a round-headed surround with a fanlight featuring decorative glazing bars. Columns flank the door, supporting a frieze with two bosses and a single central rectangular fielded panel. The house has a parapet with ball finials to the far right and left, and the rear left. A moulded cornice runs across the front only. A twelve-pane sash window with horns and a tall, round-headed sash window with glazing bars illuminate the stairs to the right-hand return, which faces the church. Gable-end and lateral stacks are present. Some original fireplaces remain. The interior includes a geometrical staircase with stick balusters, an open string, and risers with decorative brackets. A limited inspection of the interior was possible.
