Description
12 Monk Street is a 19th-century building featuring roughcast render with stucco quoin only on the left side and an eaves cornice. It has a Welsh slate roof that slopes unusually down to the lower cross range at the rear. The building has a double depth central entrance plan and stands three storeys high with four bays, all of which on the left are blind recesses.
On the ground floor, there is an open pedimented porch supported by fluted Doric columns in the third bay. This porch contains a six-panel door with a transom light and panelled reveals, flanked by two 8 over 8 pane sash windows. The first floor features three additional windows of the same style. On the second floor, there are two 4 over 4 pane sash windows, with a blind recess situated above the door. The roof is plain and includes tall stacks on both gables. The left return wall has one late 20th-century plastic sash window and shows the roof stepping down to a two-storey rear wing. The rear elevation has not been seen. The interior was not observed during the resurvey.
