Description
9 St. Mary's Street is a two-storey, single bay property with a gable end facing the street. The building features a smooth rendered and painted facade to the street, while the left return is rough rendered. The ground floor includes a central canted shopfront with four-light display windows that have slim timber mullions. To the left is the house entry, and to the right is the shop door, both with part-glazed doors and transom lights above.
The shopfront is adorned with an elaborate fascia supported by quoin pilasters and shaped brackets. This fascia includes a triple frieze decorated with scallops, hound's teeth, and acroterion-type embellishments, along with trefoil decoration. At the center of the fascia, there is an oriel window with a panelled apron and a two-over-two pane sash, flanked by narrow one-over-one sashes, with additional sashes on each return. The window is topped with a moulded cornice and a tented roof. The steeply pitched gable features two crow-steps on either side. Overall, this is a plain shop premises.
