Description

38 High Street is a two-storey building with a two-window shop front, featuring a rendered exterior and a slate roof. The second floor has two almost square windows, each with six-pane horned sash glazing and stone sills. On the first floor, there are two twelve-pane horned sash windows, also with stone sills. The ground floor has a later 19th-century shopfront that has been altered, which includes a central door that is partly glazed and has an overlight, with shop windows on either side. At the ends of the shopfront, there are classically derived pilasters that support a fascia, which has a modern fascia board and a cornice above. Some exposed timber-framing can be seen in the right gable. The rear wing of the building incorporates former 17th-century cottages.
