Description
1 Market Street is a two-storey building with an attic, featuring a low-pitched slate roof and wide eaves, along with large red-brick chimney stacks. The exterior is rendered and has applied 'half-timbering'. The elevation facing High Street includes a large gabled dormer with a casement window and two first-floor windows that are modern small-pane casements. On the ground floor, to the left, there is a former porch that connects to the adjacent building, with a hipped slate roof to the right. The central window is a small-pane horned sash with a wooden architrave and cornice, and to the right of this window is a doorway with an early 19th-century style doorcase.
The elevation facing Market Street mirrors the High Street front with three dormers. It features five first-floor windows of varying heights and proportions, all with 20th-century glazing. On the ground floor, towards the right, there is an early 19th-century style doorcase with a part-glazed door, and three windows to the left and one to the right, all of varied height and proportion with 20th-century glazing.
Inside, the room to the right of the Market Street door has a heavy stop-chamfered beam and joists.
