Description
1 High Street Inferior is a two-storey building with an attic, constructed in stucco. It features a slate hipped roof with two dormers that have hipped slate roofs and slate hanging on the sides. The windows are casement style. The building has a modillion eaves cornice.
On the first floor facing High Street Inferior, there is a four-pane sash window flanked by canted three-light bay windows. The ground floor includes a canted shop window on either side of a well-crafted wooden doorcase, which has a pedimented hood supported by enriched consoles. At the rear, there are two ranges of wings that run parallel to each other but are at right angles to the front wing; some of these are of a similar date but have contrasting rooflines.
The ground floor has been altered, featuring plastic beams and dado. However, the building retains a fine early 18th-century staircase with turned balusters, and on the first floor, there are early 19th-century chimney pieces.
