Description
8 The Bulwark is a shop with accommodation above, dating from the 19th century. The building has three storeys and features two windows on the front, which is taller than the adjacent building to the right. The front wall is finished in stucco, and it has a hipped slate roof with a shallow pitch. There is a decorative band at the second floor level. The window openings are adorned with moulded architraves and have brackets beneath the sills, with four-pane sash windows throughout.
The shop front, which is in a later 19th century style, includes a framework of pilasters, a fascia, and a cornice supported by brackets. To the left, there is a doorway, and the shop window features three elliptically-headed lights. The return elevation is also stuccoed and consists of three storeys with four windows, all with four-pane sash windows. The ground floor has shop windows. At the rear, there is a lower two-storey wing with three windows, finished in pebbledash and topped with a slate hipped roof.
