Description
15 Ship Street is a shop with accommodation above, dating from the 19th century. The street-facing facade is stuccoed and features two storeys and an attic, with a two-bay design and a first floor that overhangs. There is one catslide dormer window and two 16-pane sash windows with moulded architraves on the first floor. The ground floor has a 19th-century shop front that includes a central half-glazed four-panelled door.
At the rear, the building is now connected to a modern flat-roofed extension and features an early 19th-century stable wing that is one storey high with a loft. This stable wing has colourwashed brick and stone rubble walls, topped with a slate gabled roof.
Inside, the timber work is exposed. The west wall on the ground floor has thin timber framing with herringbone brick infilling, while the east wall is made of colourwashed rubble. The ceiling joists are thin, but both the ground floor and first floor have thick centre beams. Additionally, the front wall on the first floor also displays some exposed timber-framing.
