Description

This building is a bakery from the mid-19th century, featuring three storeys and a three-window front made of Lanfyllin brick. It has a steeply-pitched slate roof and a large rectangular brick chimney located to the left of the center. There are two gabled dormers in the attic, one small on the left and one larger on the right. The eaves have a dog-tooth brick course.

On the second floor, there are three round-headed casement windows with Y-tracery in their heads. The outer windows on the first floor are similar, while the central window is the same height but has extra lights on each side, creating a Venetian window effect. The ground floor features a central window, which was originally a door, with a round-arched central light flanked by pointed-arched lights. The basement has camber-headed windows.

To the right, there is a mid-19th century shopfront. Steps with iron railings lead up to a central doorway that is set back between the shop windows, featuring panelled jambs, classical-derived pilasters, and a shallow fascia board with quatrefoil decoration above the pilasters. The raised lettering reads "Llanfyllin Post Office," and above this area, slate-hanging covers the position of an earlier fascia board that is visible in old photographs.

To the left, there is another mid-to-late 19th century shopfront. Steps lead up to an entrance doorway at the corner, and a window projecting onto High Street is supported on stanchions above the basement window. There is a larger window facing the Market Square and a dentil cornice above. The gable end facing the Market Square features a round-headed casement window near the apex. On the second and first floors, there are two round-headed casement windows with Y-tracery in their heads, along with another similar window to the left of the shopfront.
