Description
The National Westminster Bank is an early 20th-century bank building designed in the 'Wrenaissance' style. It features two storeys plus an attic and is constructed from red brick, with a bathstone ground floor and decorative elements. The street-facing elevation has an open pediment and a round window adorned with swags. On the first floor, there are banded shallow pilasters and two windows, each topped with segmental pediments above architraves that include stepped keystones and aprons. The windows are twelve-pane horned sashes. The ground floor is faced with banded bathstone and includes two square-headed windows, which have a square lower pane and a rectangular upper pane with a circle flanked by lozenges. A convex corner bay features a shallow dome topped with an iron finial. The building is capped with a parapet and a dentil cornice. The first-floor window mirrors the main elevation and has a cartouche with the 'NP' monogram above it. To the right, there is a broad banded pilaster. The entrance doorway is framed by a surround with a shell hood supported on volutes and fluted Ionic columns, leading to double panelled doors with a rectangular overlight.
At the rear, there are two-storey blocks made of red brick and white glazed brick.
