Description

Waterloo House is a three-storey building with a three-window shop front, constructed from local brick that is rendered, and topped with a slate roof and a square brick chimney on the front ridge. The second floor features three almost square windows with modern glazing that replaces the original eight-pane hornless sashes, while still respecting the original openings, and has stone sills. The first floor also has three windows with modern glazing that replace the original sixteen-pane sash windows, again with stone sills. On the ground floor, to the right, there is a sixteen-pane window, and to the left, there is a later 19th-century shopfront that includes a central door (part glazed with an overlight) and shop windows on either side. These windows are flanked by pilasters that have classical design elements supporting volutes, along with a fascia that features a cornice.

The right gable facing the bank displays small-scantling timber-framing. At the rear, which faces the churchyard, the top storey has had its eaves raised and is also constructed with small-scantling timber-framing, with a brick chimney stack to the left. The ground floor includes a crosswing that dates from the 16th or 17th century. The gable features a heavy collar and tiebeam truss with raking struts above the collar, and there is a small-pane casement window. On the ground floor, there is a broad window with an iron grille.
