Description

Ruby Tuesday is a three-storey building from the early 20th century, featuring a stucco facade that is colour washed, with quoins, keystones above the windows, and a modillion cornice. The hipped slate roof is complemented by three storeys and four windows above the shopfronts. The shopfronts include early 20th-century bowed windows and wooden doorcases with delicate fluted three-quarter columns. The left side has a single fronted entrance, while the right side has a double front with part glazed doors containing 4 x 5 panes. The upper floors have double hung sashes with 6 over 6 panes. The hipped roof also features two gabled dormers with 2 + 2 casements, and there is a tall stack on the right-hand return wall.

The side elevation displays various windows, including one at the half storey for the staircase, and there is a dormer in the roof. At the rear, there is a lower three-storey wing with two additional windows.

The interior was completely altered for use as a shop around 1920, featuring a timber framed style reminiscent of Liberty of London, although little of it is structural. The rear section of the shop is open and top-lit. The upper floors of the 18th-century house were not accessible for inspection during the resurvey in July 2004, but it is reported that they do not retain any historic features.
