Description
27 Nevill Street is a three-storey building with a stucco front that has been painted, possibly covering some timber-framing. It features long-and-short quoins and a plain panel at the first floor level. The roof is made of natural slate and has a red brick chimney stack. The building has a double depth plan with the entrance located to the left.
The late 19th-century shopfront includes three-light display windows on either side of a central door, with pilasters that support a cornice and fascia. The house entrance to the left has a late 20th-century six-panel door with a three-light transom above. The first floor windows consist of three-over-three pane casements with marginal glazing, flanking a narrow three-pane window. The second floor features four-over-eight pane sashes on either side of a two-over-four pane window. The eaves are supported by paired brackets, and the low pitch roof has a stack on the right gable. The left gable has been reconstructed, and the chimney stack, which is visible in old photographs, has been removed.
The rear elevation was not inspected, but the ground floor shop suggests that the building may date back to earlier than the 19th century.
