Description
The revetment wall of the former Llantrisant Colliery is a significant structure that supported the main terrace level of the colliery and served as a loading wall for the screens and rail sidings. It runs parallel to and opposite the engine hall on the eastern side of the complex. The wall is approximately 160 meters long and 12 meters high, built of mass concrete for its lower two-thirds, with rubble sandstone above. This type of revetment was particularly characteristic of South Wales collieries, while the use of concrete construction was a new practice at the time.
