Description
This listing describes a cast iron water pump, which is enclosed by rubble stone walls and metal railings. The pump features a round-section stem that has fluting and rings, with a shorter section of wider diameter above it. At the top, there is an openwork dome topped with a small round finial. On the northeast side, near the top, there is a long narrow curved handle. A curved spout, which faces south and has a scroll on top of the curve, is fixed to the narrower part of the stem. The east side of the stem bears a maker's mark that is difficult to read but may depict a bear. The pump is mounted on a stone plinth and is surrounded by high rubble stone walls to the north and west, which partly retain the ground, along with a short wall to the south. Steel railings are present elsewhere, featuring an arched gateway that leads to the roadside.
