Description

The New Inn is a two-storey building featuring a symmetrical front with three windows and a central doorway. The exterior is roughcast over stone and topped with a slate roof that has been rebuilt with brick end stacks. The doorway is moulded and round-headed, containing a recessed six-panel door and a fan-light with radial glazing. The windows are wide, eight-over-eight-pane hornless sashes set in heavy surrounds. There is a skylight on the right side of the roof pitch. The gable ends are flanked by lower buildings. On the west gable, there is a late 20th-century window offset to the right, while the east gable has a small window under a segmental head made of voussoirs, featuring 20th-century glazing.

The rear of the building is constructed from rubble stone and includes a long rear wing that is set at right angles and offset to the left, with a central brick ridge stack. In the centre of the main range, there is a stairlight under a round head of voussoirs with intersecting tracery. To the right, there is a window under a flat head of stone voussoirs with 20th-century glazing, along with a doorway and a small flat-roofed extension below. The east side of the rear wing has a window with a flat head and a three-over-six-pane hornless sash. The south gable end of the wing is rendered and features a four-pane horned sash window.

Inside, there is a small lobby at the front entrance. A panelled door with a round head and fan-light leads into the inn. The central hall has rooms that branch off to the left and right. The dog-leg staircase is located at the rear and includes moulded tread ends and a moulded handrail. The dining room is situated to the right in the rear wing, featuring panelled doors and window shutters, although the bars have been modernised.
