Description

The Parish Offices is a tall, narrow building designed in the Gothic style, constructed in 1873. It features two storeys and a basement, with a gable end facade facing south. The front of the building is made of coursed sandstone, while the sides and rear are rendered. It has a slate roof with a stone eaves stack on the west side. The front displays rusticated quoins, a dressed stone plinth, and projecting sill bands on each storey. The openings for doors and windows are narrow and pointed, framed with rusticated stone surrounds. The original sash windows have been replaced with uPVC. The doorway on the far right includes a late 20th-century wood panelled door with a plain overlight. To the left of this door, there is a pair of single pointed lights set within a larger rusticated blind arch. To the right of the arch, beneath the upper storey sill band, is a wide stone tablet inscribed with 'Parish Offices 1873'. The upper storey features three adjoining single lights in the centre, along with a circular louvre at the apex of the gable.

The west wall, which has rusticated quoins, is dominated by a centrally-placed stack. The windows here have stone surrounds and contain uPVC glazing. The upper storey has two windows with segmental heads, symmetrically placed on either side of the stack. The ground floor has narrow pointed windows, with a single light on the left that lacks a stone surround, and a pair of lights in the centre. A circular slate plaque dated 1997 is affixed to the wall on the right. The far left of the west wall features two small square windows in the basement storey, which have heavy stone surrounds and segmental heads. The lower storey of the east side is adjacent to another building and has no openings above. The north gable end includes a circular louvre at the apex.

Inside, the front door leads to a narrow stair hall. There is a dog-leg staircase at the rear, with a moulded archway at its base featuring scrolled imposts. To the left, two reception rooms have been combined into one. The council chamber is located upstairs.
