Cow Shed at Ynysmaerdy Farm (formerly stores of Llantrisant Colliery)

The Cow Shed at Ynysmaerdy Farm, formerly stores of Llantrisant Colliery, is a single-storey gabled building constructed from coursed rubble sandstone with red brick dressings. It features a slate roof adorned with sawtooth terracotta ridge tiles, and the original glazed rooflights have been replaced with corrugated iron sheets. The building spans 8 bays, with doorways located in the penultimate bays at each end of the front (east) elevation. To the right of center, a window has been removed to create double doors beneath a small opening, likely for a winding cable. The windows, which have segmental heads, deep dentilled surrounds, and pronounced keystones, are all made of red brick in the typical style of Powell Duffryn houses. They are fitted with metal frames and consist of 6 panes by 6. Red brick is also used for the quoins and a deep eaves cornice.

Inside, there are remnants of a spine wall and joist holes that suggest a first floor was added after the building's original construction.
