Description
The Blackmill War Memorial is a monument built in mixed coloured granites and raised on two sandstone steps. It features a Gothic style design, with a gabled lower section supported by corner columns, all resting on a multiple moulded base. The open gables above the columns are adorned with etched granite scrollwork. Above this, the structure narrows to an octagonal panelled section topped with a leaf enriched capital, which supports a tapering octagonal shaft that culminates in a terminal fleur. The memorial is not signed, and the original cast iron railings were replaced with steel in March 1997.
