Description
The Jenkins monument, located in the graveyard of Paran Chapel, is made of sandstone and dates back to the 19th century. It features a square die elevated on two steps, which include base and necking mouldings. The monument is topped with a large cavetto capital that is intricately carved with a bold anthemion design. Above this, there is a cornice that has an egg moulding and is weathered at the top, culminating in a crowning lidded urn. The sides of the monument are inscribed in memory of William, the son of William Jenkins, who was the minister of this chapel and passed away in 1830. The inscriptions also honor his children, Thomas and Ebeneser, as well as the Rev Hopkin Jenkins, who died in 1887, and his wife, along with other family members.
