Description

Three large semi-detached villa pairs, linked by side porches, now used as residences for Swansea University (with linking upper floor bridges). Each pair is 3 storeys over basement. Bathstone fronts with pilaster strips to projecting end bays and central pilaster strip expressing joint of houses; band courses at window sill levels. Grey rubble at basement level, rendered side elevations; slate roofs with bracketed eaves (lost to L pair); mainly horned sash windows with single large panes but some modern glazing especially to inner ground floor windows, and basement of E pair. Projecting end bays have on second floor, paired windows with segmental heads; on first floor paired windows with segmental heads and keystones and bracketed shelf at sill level, ground floor and basement have splayed bay with cornice. Inner bays have on second floor, window with segmental head; on first floor window with segmental head; ground floor window with bracketed cornice, basement has mullioned window of 2 lights. Houses have single storey porches to sides which link adjacent houses; steps up to porch with Doric pillars and stone balustrade, entrance door set back under semi-circular overlight. W pair of houses under repair at time of inspection.
