Description
Pantgwydir Baptist Church is a building constructed from brown rock-faced stone with bathstone dressings and bands, some of which are painted, and features a slate roof. The west elevation includes a large window with five cusped lights and intersecting tracery above. There is a gabled porch with diagonal buttresses and a doorway topped with a pinnacled ogee head. To the left, there is a polygonal buttress, while to the right stands an unusual tower topped with a spire and a pinnacle, which has small niches above the slates. The bell stage of the tower features two louvred windows on each face, supported by polygonal buttresses on corbels, with pinnacles and a pierced parapet above. The west side has a narrow window on both the upper and ground stages, and the ground floor has an entrance door with an ogee head and low diagonal buttresses.
The south elevation has a shallow gabled bay in the second bay, which features square pinnacles at the ends and a four-light window with Perpendicular tracery, along with stepped buttresses. On either side of this bay, the upper floor has a broad five-light window, while the ground floor has a broad five-light window with intersecting cusped circles. The fourth bay contains a shallow gabled porch with diagonal buttresses and an entrance door with a cusped pinnacled head. The end bay, which houses the vestries and schoolrooms, has a gable across the eaves and a pair of windows on both the first and ground floors.
Inside, the church features an arch-braced hammer-beam roof that is boarded at collar level. An organ is situated over the set fawr enclosure, with pointed arched doors on each side. There is a gallery over the west end with an arcaded frontal, and the lobby includes glazed screens and stairs leading to the gallery. At the rear, there are service rooms on the ground floor and schoolrooms on the first floor.
