Description

The barn at Ty Mawr is a large structure measuring nine bays long and three bays wide, built from stone rubble with a corrugated roof that is hipped to the right. It features a pitching door on the left side and two tiers of well-made ventilation slits with timber lintels, along with two pairs of opposing doors.

Inside, the barn has pegged trusses that include collar and tie beams, along with three rows of trenched purlins, and some re-used beams. Instead of a wallplate, there are timber pads supporting the trusses. The bay on the right connects to the roof of the farmhouse range. The floor on the right side is at two different levels, and the threshing floor between the doors is made of stone slabs. The area in between is earth, while the extreme left end features stone setts.
