Description
The barn at Ty Mawr is a 19th-century structure featuring a central section made of random rubble stone with a timber-framed upper part. This upper section consists of short posts that run between the wall plate and sill, and it is clad with corrugated iron sheets, which also cover the roof. Inside, this central area has two pairs of raised crucks supported by a stone plinth wall, along with a rough tie beam, collar, and saddle.
To the northeast, there is a stable that extends from this range, constructed from rough random rubble and topped with a slate roof. It has a single bay with an external staircase leading to a gabled loft entry on the left and a doorway with a timber lintel on the right. To the southwest, there is another extension that may have been a former shippon, also made of rough random rubble with a corrugated iron sheet roof and a stone-coped gable. This section features three doorways, with the outer two now partially blocked and converted into windows.
